Healthfirst Paralegal in New York, New York


The Paralegal will assist support to in house legal counsel on legal matters which include but are not limited to litigation support, Fair Hearings, corporate contracts, etc..

  • Providing support to in-house legal counsel to address and manage routine legal issues

  • Researching and analyzing law sources, statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles and codes

  • Preparing legal documents such as briefs, appeals, contracts, etc.

  • Reporting directly to in house legal counsel or attorney

  • Assisting in preparing and attending scheduled Fair Hearings on behalf of the Plan

  • Reviewing and logging Fair Hearing notices; compiling and coordinates assembly of documentation supporting actions taken by the Plan

  • Reviewing documentation and formulate arguments supporting Plan action, or if action cannot be supported, works with the appropriate departments to correct issue prior to hearings

  • Additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Preferred familiarity with the Medicaid/Medicare programs and the Health Insurance

  • AA/AS degree in the legal field

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;

  • Familiarity with Microsoft office, Excel and SharePoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Paralegal Certificate

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deliverables

  • Related experience as a paralegal in a law firm and/or corporate legal department or managed care organization

  • Westlaw and Lexis Nexus Software
