Healthfirst Product Owner, HCM in New York, New York
The HCM Product Owner collaborates closely with IT and business stakeholders to create and support the Corporate Business Technology Program vision and will be responsible for sustaining and enhancing the Workday platform functionality, design, roadmap and the employee experience for Human Resources. Successful candidates in this role will have a combination of strong functional HR experience, executive presence and IT systems knowledge (Workday preferred).
This role will define user stories and prioritize the team backlog and streamline the execution of priorities for sprints while maintaining conceptual and technical integrity of Features and Enablers.
The HCM Product Owner is an HR practitioner with experience as a Business Partner, HR Operations lead or CoE analyst (Compensation, TA, Benefits, Talent). The role will work cross-functionally with other areas; IT, Finance, Budget, Payroll; on backlog work, defining future user stories and creating an exceptional employee experience on the Workday platform. The HCM PO is also accountable for operational readiness and assembling the right people to prepare the business to effectively accept, use and support new technology capabilities before they are delivered to production.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Works with the business, HR leaders, HR Operations, CoE’s and HR Shared Services teams understand business needs and pain points translating them into business requirements for development.
Collaborates with the Workday Product Manager, IT Delivery Leads and Delivery teams to translate requirements into epics, features and stories for development.
Manages the backlog including prioritization, new requests and establishing timelines.
Lead Business Process development including facilitating key decision strategy meetings in order to continuously assess issues and enhancements for the HCM platform. Establishes expectations regarding delivery dates for requests based on resource allocation.
Lead focus groups designed to extract end user feedback and possible enhancements to self-service functionality.
Conduct Business Mapping and data cleansing workshops.
Works in accordance with IT defined governance strategy (ServiceNow, Release Management Cycles, etc.) and adheres to established SLAs.
Work closely with agile work streams in order to successfully work towards feature releases in accordance with Change Management Release cycle.
Serve as the primary subject matter expert for Workday HCM solutions including but not limited to Core HR, Recruiting, Compensation, Time & Attendance, Benefits, Learning, and Performance Management.
In coordination with QA analysts, supports the design of testing strategy and the development of Test scenarios and test cases. Responsible for User Acceptance Testing and business sign-off.
Lead through the bi annual Workday releases working closely with subject matter experts, integrations, and QA.
Work towards prioritize reporting requests and working with Reporting Lead to roll out monthly requests.
Identify gaps between functional areas, configuration, inter-dependencies between HR and Finance, etc.
Assists with producing, maintaining, and delivering end user training and ensuring configuration changes are reflected within existing training materials.
Understands and identifies current business problems and opportunities and works with relevant product teams in order to rectify or enhance current implementation.
Works directly on project tasks such as requirements gathering, user story writing, testing, and configuration.
Conducts weekly meetings with Business Area leads in order to effectively work towards reducing backlog.
Demonstrate a foundational knowledge of Workday technical disciplines.
Able to effectively mentor, and identify and address gaps for continuous improvement.
Identifies areas of opportunities that will benefit the end user experience and reduce inefficiencies.
Ability to champion change and lead teams.
Work with Product Manager/Technical Product Manager to address adoption issues and work towards rectifying adoption constraints.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
3+ years in an HR functional role with a solid understanding of HR functions, business processes, labor laws and regulatory reporting.
3+ years supporting Human Capital Management solutions, preferably Workday.
Previous HR and/or HRIS related work experience required.
Project Management experience, SAFe Agile preferred but not necessary.
Product Owner experience preferred but not necessary.
Experience with Workday Business Process definition designing solutions that improve employee experience.
Ability to translate business needs into requirements.
Excellent verbal, written communication and executive presentation skills.
Proficient in MS Office.
