Healthfirst Senior Product Data Analyst in New York, New York


The Senior Analyst, Product is responsible for providing the analytical support to the Product team to develop, assist in execution, and continuously improve upon a market growth strategy that supports profitable growth across the entire Product portfolio including Medicaid, Medicare, Complete Care, HARP, CHP, and Essential Plan.

This position would perform ad hoc and drilldown analyses ad hoc and drilldown analyses on product trends and concerns as well as work with other Healthfirst departments on data and reporting designs. The Senior Analyst, Product will draw insights from data, identify areas of opportunities for membership growth and medical cost savings, communicating this information concisely to Product leads, and help translate these opportunities into actionable items.

The incumbent will interact and collaborate with various subject matter experts from departments across the organization and provide analytical support to product leads and must be comfortable presenting reports to all levels of management internally/externally.


  • Work collaboratively with finance analysis, sales, and marketing to support market growth and retention plans to achieve membership objectives

  • Regularly partner with Strategic Alliances to review PPS project status and identify areas of opportunity

  • identify initiatives to improve healthcare effectiveness and develop metrics to track progress

  • Understand program changes and the impact established metrics

  • Prepare materials needed for various meetings, assuring that all information is validated and accurate

  • Compile information from multiple sources to prepare and distribute time-sensitive and accurate reporting for internal and external audiences

  • Analyze the financial performance of products, identify favorable and unfavorable trends, develop recommendations to improve trends, communicate recommendations to management

  • Design, create, modify, support and maintain monthly competitive reports

  • Prepare ad-hoc reporting as required by senior management and external partners

  • Create models to forecast growth and retention performance and financial outcomes

  • Effectively manage projects by setting clear project milestones and deliverables; clearly communicating goals, objectives and responsibilities. Lead and/or participate in meetings to gather and specify departmental requirements for such projects

  • Develop applications and reports using SAS/SQL, Microsoft Excel, and other pertinent databases

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited institution

  • Experience in a similar role

  • Advance skills with SAS and/or SQL and ability to query, compile, and manipulate large datasets

  • Advance skills in Microsoft Excel

  • Understand and translate highly complex concepts to a wide range of audience

  • Experience in analyzing membership growth and retention trends and identifying drivers

  • Ability to efficiently validate data and analyses to identify potential errors in final results

  • Highly analytical person who can demonstrates problem solving and critical thinking skills

  • Team player who contributes to creating a positive work environment

  • Agility and flexibility to adjust to the evolving healthcare program this position supports

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a health care delivery system or a health insurance company

  • Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid programs, health care, and managed care

  • 5 years of experience in a similar role
