Healthfirst Sr Financial Reporting Analyst in New York, New York
The Senior Financial Reporting Analyst is responsible for the accounting and external reporting of financial statements using Statutory Accounting Principles. He/She ensures that reporting submissions to Regulatory agencies are filed on time, meets the highest standards and is supported by comprehensive documentation.
Prepare NAIC, NYS HMO Supplement and NYS MAPOR, FIDAOR financial reports for submission to NYS agencies and ensures that reporting submissions are filed on time, meet the highest standards and is supported by comprehensive documentation
Respond to inquiries from NYS Departments of Insurance and Health
Work on monthly general ledger close; adherence to monthly close schedule, prepare monthly journal entries, GAAP to SAP reconciliation and account analysis to ensure financial integrity and compliance with SAP.
Perform variance analysis, investigative work and provide explanations to assist in understanding of financial results.
Optimize the creation and use of Workday Reports to enhance financial reporting functions
Collaborate with other departments to furnish or obtain factual information
Assist with adhoc analysis requests from management, auditors and various departments
2+ in Statutory Accounting and Reporting principles
Experience in a healthcare environment (i.e. hospital, network, ancillary, medical facility, healthcare vendor, commercial health insurance company, large physician practice, etc.)
Experience in preparing the NAIC, NYS HMO Supplement and NYS MAPOR, FIDAOR and other Statutory Filings (e.g. Medical Loss Ratio Report)
Experience in manipulating big data from multiple data sources
Proficiency in excel functions including pivots, sum-ifs and lookups and other data manipulations
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance or business related
Familiarity with any accounting systems and reporting tools (i.e. WorkDay)
Experience with base SAS programming/SQL
Experience with PowerPoint presentations
